Flickr Photo MeMe

For those of you not up on blog slang a "Meme" is a game where you share stuff about yourself. Most of you have probably done the email type where someone sends out a list of questions, you answer them and send the list back to the person who sent it to you along with sending it to other people. The questions are things like "Do you have any tattoos?" and "Croutons or Salad Dressing?" Stuff like that...

So in the past week or so a Meme has been going around the blogosphere where you answer a list of questions and then type your answers into the search field on Flickr. You then pick one picture from the first page of search results for each answer and use Mosaic Maker (or Flickr Mosaic if you have an upgraded account) to make a mosaic of the photos that come up. I thought it would be a fun one to do so here goes!

The questions:
1. What is your first name? Emily
2. What is your favorite food? Peanut Butter
3. What high school did you go to? George School
4. What is your favorite color? Robins Egg Blue
5. Who is your celebrity crush? Tim McGraw
6. Favorite drink? Currently- Shirley Temple
7. Dream vacation? South Africa
8. Favorite dessert? Ice Cream
9. What you want to be when you grow up? A mother
10. What do you love most in life? My family
11. One Word to describe you. Creative
12. Your Flickr name. Emskyrooney

February: What Shadow Looks Like

(Welcome if you’re coming from Suzanne O'Brien Studio in Northern California!) This month’s group photography theme was “shadow.”  I’ll admit, I had a bit of a hard time with this one.  We’re in the middle of the February doldrums around these parts, and while the sun does shine from time to time it’s cold and blustery and damp most days.  It was tough to get motivated and creative about this, but that’s the whole point of the challenge! The kids and I were in the living room one afternoon and LP was lining his toys up on the windowsill.  The (frigid) afternoon sun was pouring in and I realized that there was a sort of lightbox effect.   I enlisted LP’s help in photographing some of his favorite toys (and one of Eliza’s) so he was the “stylist” for this little photo shoot.  I think if we ever have a dedicated play room I might frame some of these photos for the walls! A Bit of Sewing….

I’ve been on a sewing kick lately- made a few things for Eliza that I thought I’d share (of course, I also have a list about a mile long of things I really need to get working on for Christmas, but bumped them all to make these little, totally not needed but too cute to resist, pieces…). First up is another Geranium Dress from the pattern by Made by Rae .  The pattern is for a sleeveless dress or one with cap sleeves but I really wanted long sleeves so I drafted my own and they worked out perfectly!  The fabric is a super soft baby corduroy.  I made a mistake and sewed the skirt on the wrong way- instead of picking it all apart though I decided to just cover my seam (which should have been on the inside- whoops, distracted!) with a  fabric band.  I used the same fabric for the lining in the bodice. On the patch pockets I stitched Eliza’s name- it says “Eliza” on one pocket and “Rose” on the other.. I wish I’d used the polkadot pattern for the pockets as I thi...

10 on 10: July

10 on 10: Ten photos taken during one day or event, documenting that day or event, and posted on the tenth of the month . This year was our first fourth of July where it was just the 4 of us.  In the past Paul’s parents were living nearby and we’d all get together.  This year though we had a quiet day at home.   The kids splashed in the kiddie pool and Paul smoked up some ribs for dinner.  Yum! Now head on over to Kate Suzanne Photography - she just relocated to Asheville, NC and is sure to have a great 10 in 10!
