A few weeks ago I mentioned that csnstores had approached me about doing a review of their site and a product on my blog.  They ended up providing me with a $35 gift certificate which I used to purchase 2 things for Little Paul's bedroom.  The first thing I purchased wasn't anything terribly exciting, but is a definite must when there's a toddler around: a waterproof mattress cover .  The mattress pad I ordered is great- it's not a thick pad, so it doesn't add any extra comfort to the bed but it sure adds some peace of mind (and LP proved that it truly is waterproof when he got sick all over his new bed on his second night sleeping in it!).   It washed up easily and seems like it should hold up for quite a while! My other purchase was a bit more fun: the Room Mates Alphabet Peel and Stick Wall Stickers .  These wall decals are a great price for the number of stickers you get and are super easy to apply and remove.  Little Paul loves pointing out ...

Paul and I decided a month or so ago that for Little Paul's second birthday we'd get him a big boy bed.  Two weeks later we decided to go crazy and make him a big boy bedroom as well!  So today we got started transforming our spare bedroom (which was my sewing room temporarily) into LP's new bedroom. Here's what we started with: (except instead of my sewing things the room contained 2 spare dressers, a really ugly twin bed, and all of the baby stuff we don't use anymore- pack and play, playmat, bouncy seat, etc.) At the end of the day we had this: See ya later ugly fish border.  Bye-bye baby blue walls.  We're stripped and primed and ready to paint the walls tomorrow!  We also decided to paint one of the extra dressers in a dark blue to stay in the room... Recently I purchased a new end table and lamps for our bedroom, and we have 3 different colors of paint swatches on the wall, as we'd planned on painting our bedroom first, but now, alas, ...

Last fall LP wasn't really walking yet, so while I put cute little jeans and cargo pants on him from time to time, he mostly still lived in stretchy little pants and onesies.  This year though, he's a little boy- running around, getting into things, playing outside.  And I've caught the back-to-school shopping bug pretty badly!  I'm trying to restrain from shopping too much for LP, but haven't been able to resist adding a few cute things to his fall wardrobe (all purchased on sale, as I'm now the cheapest person on the planet when it comes to buying clothing and consider Old Navy a splurge.....) I've been researching strollers today, once again.  We currently use our car seat and plop it onto a universal stroller base and we're good to go.  It's easy to fold, a cinch to attach the car seat to, and so light that I can throw it in the trunk of the car with no problem.  But LP wants to sit up and look around more and more and in a couple of months he's going to be too heavy for me to lift the whole car seat in and out of the car.  And so I've been searching for the Holy Grail of strollers... Part of me loves that there's something out there to suit every need: Want a stroller with 2 cup holders for Mom and Dad's lattes and a fake steering wheel for Junior?  We've got it!  Want a stroller that you can fold with one hand so that you can keep chatting on your cell with the other?  No problem!  A stroller that can hold the car seat, a diaper bag, AND all your groceries?  Here you go! But seriously, it's completely overwhelming.  I'm sure life w...

So I finally got around to uploading the pictures I took of the baby blanket I made to match our little guy's nursery.  I used Michael Miller's "Dick and Jane" fabric on the front and pieced in a strip of red with white polkadots on which I embroidered baby's name.  The back is blue and white ticking with a piece of the red and white polkadots pieced in as well.  I did wavy quilting stitches on the Dick and Jane portions and straight stitching on the red and white portion and bound the whole thing with white trim with red polkadots.. I'm officially obsessed with buying cute cute cute clothing for our little guy.. Here's my latest (and, in a moment of serious restraint, ONLY) purchase from Gap Baby when I was in NYC: Paul thinks it's cute too. Seems like everything I buy for the baby is either a reference to Paul in some way (this onesie, a Yankees onesie, T's with cars on them) or has dachshunds on it... Baby Gap also had a super cute quilted one-piece to wear in cold weather with a little hood and mittens attached... I don't think our little guy will need a snowsuit for his first winter but something to bundle him up in with a blanket would be good so I think this is perfect.... Just have to pick a color (and look for a Gap coupon!)
