Phew!

It's been a pretty crazy couple of weeks at our house and there are several "baby's firsts" to talk about! The first "first" isn't a terribly good one.  Little Paul caught his first cold which quickly became a fever and an ear infection.  We headed to the pediatrician and got a dose of antibiotics for him which seemed to clear things up pretty quickly.  No sooner had he recovered from being sick early last week though than I came down with a cold- one of the worst colds I've had in a long time.  And of course I had a Conference to run for work this past weekend.  Fortunately I was feeling better by the time Friday rolled around and the Conference went off without a hitch (although my boss was sick the whole time- am keeping my fingers crossed that he didn't pass anything along to me!) Last week LP had his 4-month check up.  He's grown another 1.5 inches and was 12 lbs, 5 oz.  He's only in the 5th percentile for height and weight but the 5

Mr. Giggles....

I'll be back tomorrow with a real blog update- now that my work conference is over and done with I'll have a bit more time this week... Meanwhile Little Paul learned to giggle this weekend.... Here's video!

That Time of the Month....

No, not THAT time of the month!  Photo shoot time of the month!  I took about twice as many photos of LP this month and spent more than twice the amount of time editing them.  Here are a few of my faves,; as always, you can head over to Flickr to see them all!  As you'll see from the photos LP has recently discovered that he can use his hands to put things in his mouth to suck on- fun! (He's also figured out that he can use his hands to yank Mommy's hair and ears when she's burping him, and to swat at Mommy's arm if she happens to look away from him while he's nursing... It won't be long til he figures out how to pull the dogs' ears I'm sure!) mmm... tasty! This is a face he makes quite frequently- I'm so glad I caught it on camera! I'm trying to be more careful about getting pictures of things I want to remember...  Right now his hair is in a pretty funny place- he's got some little bald spots and some spots where the hair is very thin

"He's Free as the Breeze, He's Always at Ease....

...Yeah, he's gonna go far And carry moonbeams home in a jar" The lyrics from the classic song "Guitarzan" describe my brother Nelson to a tee.  Out of the three of us kids he's the relaxed one, the go-with-the-flow one, the one who can fit in anywhere and with anyone.  He doesn't need to schedule his day, write down his to-do list, or organize his closet by clothing type and color.  He's happy to stay behind the scenes or to jump up on stage and perform.  Nelson was the one in our house who could get away with anything.  As the middle child he didn't have to break our parents in the way I did.  When I was in second grade and he was in kindergarten he and his friends decided it would be fun to take all of my toys and hide them in his room.  I thought the house had been robbed when I got home that day.  Months later we were still finding Barbie shoes mixed in with his Legos.  The first time my husband met Nelson was at our brother Spencer's college
