Things to Remember: Eliza Rose, Age 3

Today our sweet little Eliza Rose turns three.  Like all moms, I'm sure, it's hard for me to believe that she's already out of toddler-hood and becoming a preschooler.  It seems as though we were just preparing for her to join our family yesterday and now, of course, it's impossible to imagine what life would be like without Eliza around. Eliza might be the smallest person in our house but she has the largest personality by far.  Shy in public, she's boisterous and energetic at home- running all over, squealing with excitement, bossing everyone around and trying to take charge at all times.  She's stubborn and sensitive, sweet and sassy, and over the top spicy.   At three Eliza's favorite things are her brother, her doggies, mermaids, stories, and princesses.   She loves to play tea party, help in the kitchen and go swimming.    Sometimes she says she's "Eliza BaBaron"- other times she's a "puppy doggy" or a...

Eliza Rose: Things to Remember, 8 Months

It’s hard to believe that Eliza is 8 months old already- I know I just said that last month but it’s always true.   I still have such vivid memories of LP at this age and now he’s almost four and a half which is completely mind boggling.   Eliza continues to be a very easy-going baby.  She wakes up in the morning happy and babbles to herself until we go in to get her.  She does the same after naps.  She cries a bit when we lay her down to change her diaper or when she’s sitting up and topples over but other than that she rarely cries.  When she’s tired she just turns her head, sticks her little left thumb in her mouth and she’s all set.  Lizy-Loo has some crazy hair.  See those long pieces down below her ears?  That’s hair she was born with- all the hair that’s long now, below her ears and her bangs, was on her head when she was born.  It kept growing while the rest fell out and has since grown back in.  So she has mostly s...

Eliza Rose: Month Two

Apparently I'm blogging on an every two week schedule.  Need to get better about that.  I blame Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram for my lack of updates here- everybody already knows what I'm up to! That said, I can't neglect my little munchkin on her 8 week old birthday.  It's a complete cliche, but it feels as though Eliza has been part of our family forever.  She fits right in like a piece in the jigsaw puzzle of life and we're all feeling a bit more complete. Waking up from a nap in her carseat with her stylish polka dot boots on... I know I always said that LP was such an easy baby.  And he really was.  But Eliza is giving him a run for his money in the easy baby competition.  (And yes, I'm knocking on wood, crossing my fingers, and holding my breath while I type this).  I've been reading back through my blog entries from when LP was around the 2 month mark and there was quite a bit about the difficulties of breast feeding and trying to get...

Insta-Day

So my big fancy camera has had a bit of a haitus lately.  The weather has been dreary so it's not bright enough inside for great photos and we're so busy with life in general that it's all I can do to grab my phone and snap a few quick photos sometimes...  When I'm not nursing Eliza I'm most likely making a peanut butter sandwich for LP, doing laundry, or maybe snagging a quick shower.   I don't know if I mentioned before that although we'd planned to keep LP in day care 2 days a week throughout my maternity leave (I go back to work for one month between Thanksiving and Christmas and then will be laid off), we ended up pulling him out so he's home with me 5 days a week.  It's been a big adjustment for both of us- I was expecting to have some time with just Eliza and he's used to being with kids his age more but we're doing pretty well.  We've had some great playdates, yoga classes at the library, and some other little adventures.  I find ...
